In Saturday’s (4/20) Morning Call (Allentown, Pennsylvania), Jodi Duckett writes, “A superstar pianist and violinist, a concert of classical music for film, a new Allentown Symphony Chorus and ‘Video Games Live,’ a multimedia show featuring music from popular video, highlight the Allentown Symphony Orchestra’s 2013-14 classical season. ‘Video Games Live’ is scheduled for July 14 and marks the first time the orchestra has performed a pops concert at Symphony Hall in the summer. … The season includes five classical concerts. ‘Opening Revelry’ kicks things off Oct. 12 and 13, featuring Naumburg International Piano Competition winner Awadagin Pratt in Grieg’s timeless piano concerto. Superstar violinist Midori is the soloist in Bartok’s second Violin Concerto on Nov. 16 and 17. Midori, a champion of young artists, will work with conductor Diane Wittry and students to create a program for the Young Musicians String Festival. Auditions are now underway for the Allentown Symphony Chorus, which will perform Mozart’s Requiem with the orchestra on March 8 and 9. The chorus is expected to include 50-plus members.”
