The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has appointed SYLVIA KIM KILCULLEN assistant principal second violin, a promotion that took effect in late April. She was previously a member of the orchestra’s second violin section. Before joining the CSO in September 2012 Kilcullen spent four years with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Her awards include a Gold Medal in the 2003 Henryk Szeryng International Violin Competition, a special jury prize in the 2001 Sarasate International Violin Competition, and prizes in a variety of local, national, and international competitions. Kilcullen holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Lynn University and an artist diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music.
