STILIAN KIROV, assistant conductor of the Seattle Symphony since the start of the 2012-13 season, has been named Douglas F. King Associate Conductor of the orchestra, effective September 1, 2013. Prior to joining the Seattle Symphony’s conducting staff he served as associate conductor of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and music director of the MSO’s Youth Symphony Program. He has guest conducted in France, Germany, Russia, Greece, Croatia, and Ukraine as well as such U.S. orchestras as the Lansing (Mich.) Symphony, the New World Symphony, and the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colo. Kirov was a 2012 conducting fellow at Aspen Music Festival and School’s American Academy of Conducting, and will spend this summer as a conducting fellow at Tanglewood Music Center.
