New York-based violinist, composer, and educator JESSIE MONTGOMERY has been appointed as inaugural composer-in-residence for Sphinx Virtuosi. A Sphinx alumna and full-time member of the Sphinx Organization’s Catalyst Quartet, she was a co-founding member of PUBLIQuartet, an ensemble dedicated to performing new music by New York-area composers and arrangers. From 2004 to 2009 Montgomery was a member of the Providence String Quartet, resident ensemble of Community MusicWorks in Providence, R.I. In the 2011-12 season she was Van Lier Composer Fellow at the American Composers Orchestra. Montgomery holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from The Juilliard School and a master’s from New York University in scoring for film and multimedia.
