The Atlantic Classical Orchestra, based in Fort Pierce, Florida, has announced details of its 2013-14 season, which includes two world premieres, the addition of a performance venue in Vero Beach, and the continuation of its “Behind the Baton” education series with Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Stewart Robertson. The ACO performs four full-orchestra programs and three chamber programs during its season, which runs from January 8 to April 4, 2014. Through the ACO’s Commission Project, inaugurated during the current season, the orchestra will perform two world premieres by American composers; the first, a chamber work by Garth Neustadter, will be performed in January, and the second, for solo clarinet and chamber orchestra by Jeffrey Parola, is set for March, featuring ACO Principal Clarinet Paul Green. During the 2013-14 season each program will be performed at the Eissey Theatre in Palm Beach, a new venue for the ACO, with a free open dress rehearsal that is followed by a wine reception for audience and musicians. From January to March 2014, the ACO’s “Behind the Baton” educational series, a partnership with Lifelong Learning at Indian River State College, will run on four Mondays at the IRSC’s campus in Stuart and four Wednesdays at the IRSC’s campus in Vero Beach.
