Wednesday (5/29) on his Cincinnati Enquirer TV & Media blog, John Kiesewetter writes, “Cincinnati Pops conductor John Morris Russell appears on ‘The Moment’ Friday (11 p.m., USA Network) in an episode about a man wanting to be an orchestra conductor. But he’s not just any man. Phil Theodorou studied conducting and music education at Fresno State University and earned graduate degrees in both areas from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Oklahoma. He has served as an associate professor of music and director of choral activities at Boise State University and Georgia Southwestern State University. He currently teaches in Rendono Beach city schools near Los Angeles. … Russell flew to Los Angeles for the TV show taping. … the Pops orchestra does not appear in the show, just Russell. Theodorou conducts another orchestra for Russell. Former NFL star Kurt Warner hosts the dream-come-true reality show, which premiered in April.”
