In Friday’s (5/31) Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville), Charlie Patton writes, “Stacy Ridenour, the former executive director of the Jacksonville Symphony Association who had been serving since March as the association’s vice president of development, has been named director of development of the Sarasota Opera. She will begin her new job July 1. On March 2, the executive committee of the association’s board of directors announced that David Pierson would become president of the association and Ridenour would move into a new job focused on fundraising. … The move came during an extended impasse in negotiations between the board and the musicians’ union, during which the board imposed a 20 percent cut in pay. The board and the union have since agreed to a new contract with a smaller pay cut. … Ridenour was executive director of the Kalamazoo Symphony in Michigan when she was hired by the Jacksonville Symphony Association as executive director in August 2008. She replaced Alan Hopper, who had resigned after stalled negotiations led to a two-month lockout of the orchestra by management. In Sarasota, Ridenour will supervise a department working toward an annual fundraising goal of $2.75 million.”
