In the St. Louis Beacon (Missouri) on Wednesday (6/5), Nancy Fowler writes, “Representatives from orchestras from around the country and the world will meet in St. Louis June 18-20 when the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra hosts the 68th annual League of American Orchestras Conference. The gathering, called ‘Imagining 2023,’ will include seminars, workshops and symposiums at Powell Hall and the Hyatt Regency downtown. The orchestra will perform a related concert, featuring music from Mozart to John Adams, at 7:30 p.m., Tues., June 18. ‘Sibelius 7 & Adams Doctor Atomic Symphony’ will be conducted by music director David Robertson. Those who want to contribute to the League’s vision for 2023 may share their ideas in six words on Twitter using the hashtag #imagining2023, post them on Instagram or comment on the League’s Facebook page. Rex and Jeanne Sinquefield donated $250,000 to cover the orchestra’s hosting expenses. St. Louis last hosted the conference in 1966.”
