JOSHUA SIMONDS has returned to the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra as executive director following a one-year stint as executive director of the DC Youth Orchestra. He had served as the CYSO’s general manager from 2003 to 2012, and as executive director he succeeds HOLLY HUDAK, who stepped down from that post last fall to become managing director of the Cleveland Orchestra’s annual residency in Miami, known as Cleveland Orchestra Miami. Simonds, a board member of the League of American Orchestras’ Youth Orchestra Division, holds a master’s degree in arts management from American University in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor’s in percussion from California State University, Long Beach.
