JAMES ROWLAND has been named executive director of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) in Houston, effective July 1. He will succeed TERRI GOLAS, who is stepping down at the end of June to focus on her consulting business but will continue to work with ROCO on specific projects. Rowland has more than twenty years of for-profit and nonprofit leadership experience, including seven years as president and executive director of New Jersey’s Plainfield Symphony Orchestra and three years as a marketing and development consultant to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Seton Hall University (South Orange, N.J.), and the United Way. He has held executive positions with marketing agencies in New York and Texas, working with such clients as IBM, American Express, Shell, Chase, and Verizon Wireless.
