Arizona’s Tucson Symphony Orchestra has announced a five-year extension of ANDREW BIRGENSMITH’s contract as president and CEO, through June 2018. He has led the orchestra since July 2011, and prior to that served for eight years as general manager of the Kansas City Symphony. Birgensmith holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and trombone performance from Virginia’s Shenandoah University Conservatory of Music, and received further training in arts administration at Florida State University.
