The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of DANIEL BECKLEY as vice president and general manager, effective August 12. He was most recently executive director of the Charleston (S.C.) Symphony Orchestra. Prior to assuming that post in 2010 he served as a board member of that orchestra, where he helped to negotiate a new three-year collective bargaining agreement with the musicians. A native of Virginia, Beckley holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in music from Northwestern University and James Madison University, respectively, and in 2012 he completed the League of American Orchestras’ Essentials of Orchestra Management course. As a bass trombonist he has performed in numerous orchestras and has also taught and mentored students.
