Yale University Press has announced it will publish The Leonard Bernstein Letters, edited by British musicologist Nigel Simeone, in October. The 480-page book will include correspondence to and from Bernstein between 1932 until just before Bernstein’s death, in 1990. Among the correspondents included in the book are Stephen Sondheim, Lauren Bacall, Aaron Copland, Adolph Green, Jerome Robbins, Martha Gellhorn, Jacqueline Kennedy, Boris Pasternak, and Thornton Wilder. Most of the letters are previously unpublished, according to the publisher. Simeone is author of several books, including Leonard Bernstein: West Side Story (Ashgate Publishing, 2009).
