Dirk Brossé, music director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, has received Belgium’s Knight in the Order of the Crown. Brossé received the honor on July 21 in a ceremony in Brussels. The ceremony took place earlier on the same day that King Albert II resigned in favor of his son, Philippe, who was crowned King Philippe I. Brossé, a Belgium native, is also a professor of conducting and composition at the University of the Arts/Royal Conservatory of Music in Ghent. “We are tremendously proud of our music director and his accomplishments within and outside of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia,” said Executive Director Peter H. Giestelinck in a press release. The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia performs from September to May at the Perelman Theater of Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, where it is a founding resident company. Brossé has been music director of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia since 2010.
