AFA SADYKHLY DWORKIN has been named executive and artistic director of the Detroit-based Sphinx Organization. For the past fifteen years she has served as Sphinx’s artistic director and vice president of programming, and has also held the post of director of development. She will now oversee all programming and development efforts of the $3.5 million organization, which has a workforce of more than 40 staff and faculty members. A professional violinist, Dworkin received early training at the Moscow Conservatory, continued her studies at the State Conservatory in Baku, Azerbaijan, and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater and Dance. She resides in the Detroit area with her husband Aaron Dworkin, founder and president of the Sphinx Organization.
