Nevada’s Reno Pops Orchestra and its music director, Jane Brown, have announced that they will host a conducting seminar and workshop led by conductor Joseph Gifford, held in Reno from January 8 to 11, 2014. During the workshop, conducting fellows will each have three 20-minute conducting sessions with the Reno Pops Orchestra, with repertoire to include music from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade; Copland’s Rodeo; and Dvorák’s Symphony No. 8. Also covered during the seminar and workshop will be group discussion and movement awareness, with topic areas to include Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method, Trager Mentastics, and yoga. The priority deadline for applications is October 31.
