AMS Planning & Research Corporation, an international arts management firm based in Southport, Connecticut, is marking 25 years in business this fall. Founded in 1988 by Steven A. Wolff, AMS provides consulting services to the arts and entertainment sector in the areas of planning, strategy, research, and policy. The firm’s international practice includes capital facility development, strategic planning and organization change and industry, benchmarking, market and consumer research and public policy. AMS has been behind the construction of arts facilities across North America and internationally, including, in Miami-Dade County, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates, and the South Dade Center, designed by Arquitectonica International. AMS’s facility-planning projects include work with Frank Gehry’s Gehry Partners, LLP, Norman Foster’s Foster & Partners, and recent McArthur Genius grant recipient Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang. Elsewhere, the company has explored citywide ecosystems, evaluated State Department public diplomacy efforts, and assisted with community cultural planning and policy development.
