Violinist and conductor DAWN HARMS has been appointed music director of the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony in San Francisco. She is co-concertmaster of the Oakland East Bay Symphony, associate concertmaster of San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestra, and a member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. Harms has guest conducted and appeared as soloist with numerous California orchestras including the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Parnassus, and the Livermore Amador, Sacramento and Stanford symphony orchestras, and she records regularly at Skywalker Ranch Studies in California’s Marin County. Harms is co-founder and music director of the Music at Kirkwood (Cal.) Chamber Music Festival and serves on the faculty of Stanford University. She studied conducting as a Fellow at Aspen Music Festival and School’s American Academy of Conducting.
