Artis—Naples, home to the Naples (Fla.) Philharmonic and The Baker Museum, has announced the appointment of DAVID FILNER to the newly created position of vice president of artistic operations, and of JAMES DALLAS as orchestra personnel manager.

David Filner goes to Naples from the San Antonio Symphony in Texas, where during the past seven years he has held several posts including director of education and community engagement, general manager, and interim CEO. A 2012 alumnus of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, Filner also served for ten years as director the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop (Arcata, Calif.). He is a graduate of Oberlin College and holds a master’s degree in viola performance from Rice University.

James Dallas was a founding member of the Naples Philharmonic, and prior to his appointment as orchestra personnel manager was its principal percussionist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in percussion from the University of Miami and a master’s from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.  Kathleen van Bergen, CEO and president of Artis—Naples, said in announcing Dallas’s appointment that he “brings a keen understanding of the orchestra’s rich history and a musician’s perspective to his role of working with and coordinating all musician needs for the entire performance season.”
