In Wednesday’s (9/18) Times Picayune (New Orleans), Carol Wolfram reports, “The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra is expanding its presence on the north shore by bringing the Beethoven and Blue Jeans concert series to eastern St. Tammany this season. Working as a team to ensure the success of the venture are the Slidell Symphony Society, the City of Slidell and the LPO. The first concert, ‘Beethoven’s Fifth,’ will be performed Oct. 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Slidell Municipal Auditorium.… According to Bill Stadler, a volunteer with the Slidell Symphony Society, the Oct. 20 performance is just the start of great things to come.… Stadler said corporate sponsorships and patron support of the Slidell Symphony Society will help ensure the success of the joint project. Already committed to co-sponsoring the ticketed LPO events are Slidell Memorial Hospital Foundation, JV Burkes & Associates, and the Slidell Symphony Society.… In addition to supporting this LPO initiative, Slidell Symphony Society patrons will help the organization continue its promotion of symphonic and other music forms on the north shore. The organization sponsors ‘informances’ in local schools, an annual concert by the Slidell Youth and Community Orchestra for more than 400 fourth-grade students, and the popular Lollipop Concert series.”
