The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra has announcement the appointment of  MAIYA PAPACH as principal viola and holder of the Alfred and Ingrid Lenz Harrison Chair. She has been a member of the SPCO’s viola section since the 2008-09 season, and had served as acting principal viola since 2009. Papach has made solo appearances with the orchestra in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante (with SPCO Concertmaster Steven Copes) and will appear again this season as soloist in Benjamin Britten’s Lachrymae. She is a founding member of the International Contemporary Ensemble and currently a member of the Twin Cities-based chamber ensemble Accordo. Papach is an alumna of Oberlin Conservatory and The Juilliard School.
