On Thursday, October 3, classical radio station WQXR hosted a panel discussion about the National Endowment for the Arts’ latest Survey of Public Participation in the Arts (SPPA). The station has now posted video of the hourlong discussion on WQXR.org. League of American Orchestras President and CEO Jesse Rosen is among the arts leaders discussing the survey; also participating were Oskar Eustis, artistic director of New York’s Public Theatre; Robert Battle, artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; Anne Midgette, classical music critic of the Washington Post; and Graham Parker, WQXR’s general manager. (Sunil Iyengar, director of research and analysis at the NEA, was unavailable due to the shutdown of the federal government.) The event was hosted by WQXR’s Naomi Lewin. The Survey of Public Participation in the Arts is a five-year study of audience trends in theaters, concert halls, and museums across the U.S. To read the survey, visit the NEA website.
