The Rockford Symphony Orchestra in Illinois will offer a free saxophone “boot camp” master class led by the all-saxophone Capitol Quartet on October 11 at 4 p.m. at the Coronado Performing Arts Center in Rockford. The class takes place the day before the quartet’s performance on the RSO’s first Rockford Health System Pops Series concert of the 2013-14 season at the Coronado. The master class is open to middle- and high-school saxophone players, music teachers, and band directors; all participants will receive a free ticket to the next night’s concert. In addition to performing as a chamber ensemble with numerous U.S. orchestras, the Capitol Quartet’s members all teach at music schools and work frequently with music educators. More information about the master class is available by calling 815-965-0049.
