The deadline is December 2 for composers to apply for New York Philharmonic / EarShot New Music Readings to take place in New York in June 2014. The readings will be held in conjunction with the inaugural NY Phil Biennal, an eleven-day festival exploring music by more than 50 contemporary and modern composers, with partners including the 92nd Street Y, Museum of Modern Art, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Juilliard School, Gotham Chamber Opera, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Bang on a Can, American Composers Orchestra, and Kaufman Music Center’s Special Music High School. Composers will be selected for the readings on a competitive basis. Each work will be read in an open rehearsal on June 3, followed by feedback from New York Philharmonic musicians, Alan Gilbert, and mentor composers Christopher Rouse, Steven Mackey, Robert Beaser, and Derek Bermel. For more information about EarShot, visit earshotnetwork.org. EarShot is a partnership of American Composers Orchestra, American Composers Forum, New Music USA, and the League of American Orchestras.
