The Portland Symphony Orchestra in Maine has announced three staff appointments: CAROLYN NISHON, general manager; ROSE KUE, director of education and community engagement; and BETH ANSHELES, director of finance.
Carolyn Nishon was previously the orchestra’s director of artistic operations. Prior to joining the PSO in 2008 she was a Fellow in the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, working with the Spokane, Baltimore, and North Carolina symphonies. Nishon is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she pursued a dual major in English and psychology. During her student years she served as executive director of the Michigan Pops Orchestra and also worked with the Ann Arbor (Mich.) Symphony Orchestra.
Rose Kue, the PSO’s new director of education and community engagement, previously held program management roles at StoryCorps and the Florida Orchestra. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School and Goldsmiths, University of London, as well as a Fellow in the UK’s Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce.
Beth Ansheles, director of finance, has served as director of finance for the religious order Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and as an accounting consultant for such organizations as the 317 Main St. Community Music Center (Yarmouth, Me.) and the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation (Freeport, Me.) She is a graduate of the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business.
