The Wallace Foundation has published “Something to Say: Success Principles for Afterschool Arts Programs from Urban Youth and Other Experts,” a 136-page study of arts programming for “tweens” (ages 10-13) from low-income urban communities. Co-authored by Denise Montgomery, Peter Rogovin, and Neromanie Persaud, the study was conducted in collaboration with Next Level SMG, a strategic marketing group based in Pleasantville, New York. Researchers visited U.S. cities and interviewed hundreds of young people to find out what constitutes a successful arts program for tweens. The Wallace Foundation is a New York-based nonprofit that seeks to improve education and enrichment for disadvantaged children. To read the complete report, click here.
