An unsigned report on Tuesday (12/10) at WMSN Fox 47 (Madison, Wisconsin), reads, “Marvin Rabin, a music conductor who founded the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, has died at age 97. Rabin’s sons said he died Thursday after a brief illness. Ralph Rabin on Tuesday remembered his father as a music visionary who devoted his life to making music accessible to children. Rabin was known for his musical talent and commitment to helping young people learn how to make music. A number of his students went on to become conductors themselves. Rabin was born in 1916. He took his first violin lessons in his hometown of South Bend, Ind., and he played the viola at the University of Kentucky. Ralph Rabin said his father loved seeing how music could bring a community together and touch emotions deep inside a person.”
