The Bridgehampton (N.Y.) Chamber Music Festival has announced the appointment of MICHAEL LAWRENCE as executive director, effective January 20, 2014. For the past six and a half years he has served as director of artistic planning and initiatives at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Prior to that he spent four years as director of artistic programs at the League of American Orchestras, where he directed such activities as the American Conducting Fellows Program, the National Conducting Institute (in partnership with the National Symphony Orchestra), the composer residency program Music Alive!, and the Ford Made in America commissioning project. A 2000 graduate of the League’s Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, Lawrence began his career as manager of artists and programs at the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan, where he studied cello performance and English.
