“Artis—Naples has received a $1 million gift from organization board member Kimberly Querrey and her husband, Louis Simpson,” reads an unsigned Thursday (1/16) article in the Naples Daily News (Florida). Artis—Naples is home to the Naples Philharmonic and The Baker Museum. “The gift, made during the center’s 25th season, comes as Artis—Naples is focused on developing a platform for the future, with a stated focus on next-generation leadership, multi-disciplinary programming, access for all and building future audiences. In a news release announcing the gift Thursday, Artis—Naples’ CEO and President Kathleen van Bergen said the donors ‘are invested in this cultural community and recognize that it is essential to develop a strong patron base through innovative programs for the future.’ Kimberly Querrey said in a statement that she and her husband ‘both believe in access to the arts for all and in developing multi-disciplinary programming that appeals to younger, culturally active patrons.’ The gift comes during a week when the concert-arts continuing education complex … realized a 45 percent increase in subscription sales for the 2013-14 season…. Artis—Naples hosts more than 300 concerts, performances, exhibitions and educational events for children and adults annually.”
