The Juilliard School has announced two additions to its composition faculty in the College Division, effective in fall 2014: MATTHAS PINTSCHER and STEVEN STUCKY. Pintscher, who was also recently named music director of Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris, has worked with numerous leading orchestras and festivals as both composer and conductor. Stucky, winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in Music for his Second Concerto for Orchestra, has served as resident composer and new-music advisor for the Los Angeles Philharmonic; host of the New York Philharmonic’s “Hear and Now” series; and as the Givens Foundation Professor of Music at Cornell University, a post he has held since 1980. Stucky has also served on the faculties of Eastman School of Music, the University of California-Berkeley, and Temple University.
