VINAY PARAMESWARAN has been appointed assistant conductor of the Nashville Symphony. He will serve as the cover conductor for Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero; conduct all of the orchestra’s education and community engagement programs; and have other conducting opportunities with the orchestra including a March 18 concert featuring Itzhak Perlman in the Beethoven Violin Concerto. As a conductor Parameswaran has appeared with the Curtis Opera Theater, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, and in a “Curtis on Tour” program at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, Washington’s Kennedy Center, and Columbia University’s Miller Theatre. A native of the San Francisco Bay area, he is a 2013 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied conducting with Otto-Werner Mueller as the Albert M. Greenfield Fellow. Parameswaran received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University, where he majored in music and political science and began his conducting studies with Paul Phillips.
