“The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Public Television and PBS have teamed up for a new approach to music distribution,” writes Eric Lacy at Monday’s (2/24) MLive.com (Michigan). “All three entities have launched ‘DSO on Demand,’ an eight-week series featuring favorite performances from the DSO’s ‘Live from Orchestra Hall’ webcast series chosen from the past two seasons. The ‘DSO on Demand’ series of free HD webcast encores is available through PBS.org, the PBS mobile app and the PBS apps for Apple TV, Roku and Xbox. The first program, Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 4 and 5 conducted by DSO Music Director Leonard Slatkin, was unlocked Feb. 20 and will remain available for on-demand viewing through Thursday. Each subsequent Thursday through April 10 a new performance will be released and streamed on-demand for seven days.”
