The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra has announced the launch of the Edward T. Cone Composition Institute, set to take place from July 15 to 19 on the Princeton University campus. The institute, presented in collaboration with the Princeton University Department of Music and funded by the Edward T. Cone Foundation, will select up to four emerging composers for the program, which includes free tuition, room, and board. The institute will include master classes with Institute Director Steven Mackey; orchestral readings and feedback sessions with the NJSO and Music Director Jacques Lacombe; and the world premiere of a work by each composer at a concert at Richard Auditorium on the Princeton campus. The deadline for composers to apply for the institute is April 4, and selected composers will be notified by May 1. More information on the institute is available at njsymphony.org/institute.
