An unsigned story in Tuesday’s (3/25) West Virginia Gazette (Charleston) reports that Joe Tackett, executive director of the Reading (Pa.) Symphony Orchestra, “will join the West Virginia Symphony as president on June 1, according to symphony spokesman Tommy Napier. A double bass player, Tackett has been executive director of the Reading Symphony since 2010. He served as executive director the Lexington [Ky.] Ballet in 2009 and 2010, and he was director of education and musician services at the Lexington Philharmonic from 2005 to 2009.… ‘I cannot wait to come to Charleston and join its thriving arts community,’ Tackett said in a news release. ‘Having performed as a musician with the West Virginia Symphony in the past, I look forward to assuming my new administrative role in helping bring Maestro [Grant] Cooper’s musical vision to all of West Virginia.’ ”
