Tamara Ikenberg reports Wednesday (4/9) on AL.com (Alabama), “The Mobile Symphony Orchestra announced it has named long-time board member and former board chair Celia Mann Baehr as its President and CEO, effective July 1. Diana Brewer, acting CEO for the last year, will resume her role as the MSO’s director of marketing. ‘Ms. Brewer skillfully guided the symphony through this year of transition,’ MSO board chair Jimmie Hatcher said in a press release. ‘With the hiring of Ms. Baehr, we know the symphony will continue on sound footing and that we have at our helm a proven leader and advocate for the symphony.’ The new CEO, owner of Celia Mann Baehr, CFP, a financial planning and investment advice firm, has contributed to the growth and reputation of the Symphony in myriad ways. ‘As one of the strongest advocates for classical music in Mobile, Celia knew the Mobile Symphony before it was born, and there’s nobody more committed to its success,’ Scott Speck, MSO Music Director, said in a press release. ‘I’m looking forward to working together to continue the magnificent progress the MSO has made in recent years.’ ”
