Tuesday’s (4/15) WQXR blog carries an obituary of choral singer Jeff Dinsmore, who “collapsed and died at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on Monday, the first death of a musician at the venue since its 2003 opening…. Dinsmore, a 42-year-old resident of Haddon Township, NJ, passed out as he was making his way into rehearsals at the venue. He was pronounced dead at the scene after firefighters responded to an emergency call…. Dinsmore was a founding member of the Crossing, a Philadelphia-based professional vocal ensemble. A graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, he was involved in New Jersey’s classical music community, serving for a time as the marketing manager for Opera New Jersey. The Crossing, which specializes in new music, is still scheduled to perform on Friday in the West Coast premiere of Louis Andriessen’s De Materie, which is part of the Philharmonic’s ‘Minimalist Jukebox’ festival. Last year the choir was hired to sing backup with the Rolling Stones in Philadelphia. In 2012, it performed David Lang’s Little Match Girl Passion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.”
