In the News-Press (Ft. Myers, Florida) on Wednesday (4/30), Charles Runnells reports, “Artis—Naples has just extended the contract for popular pops conductor Jack Everly.… Everly’s previous two-year contract will now be replaced by an evergreen contract that renews each year by mutual agreement, said Artis—Naples president and CEO Kathleen van Bergen. The new contract starts with the 2014-2015 season.” As principal pops conductor of the Naples Philharmonic, the orchestra of Artis—Naples, since 2009, Everly has “won over audiences with his engaging stage presence, talent and spirited leadership, Van Bergen says. ‘There’s just been a tremendous rapport between him and the orchestra and our audiences.’ Everly is also principal pops conductor for the Baltimore and Indianapolis symphony orchestras and Ottawa’s National Arts Centre Orchestra. But he said he’s been humbled by how the Naples community has embraced the local orchestra and the art of music making. ‘The Naples Philharmonic is a cultural treasure,’ Everly said in an Artis—Naples press release. ‘I am thrilled to return to one of North America’s finest orchestras.’ ”
