Meyer Sound Laboratories Inc., a Berkeley, Calif.-based designer of loudspeakers, digital audio systems, cinema sound systems, and sound-measurement tools for the professional audio industry, has appointed KAREN AMES to the newly created post of vice president of marketing and communications, effective May 31. Ames is a veteran communications professional who has worked with conductors Michael Tilson Thomas, Herbert Blomstedt, and Gerard Schwarz; composers John Adams, Philip Glass, and Meredith Monk; and such organizations as the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Cal Performances, Merola Opera Program, Houston Grand Opera, and San Francisco International Film Festival. Most recently she was president of her own consulting firm, and helped Meyer Sound launch a recording featuring mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe that employed the firm’s Constellation acoustic system.
