Pennsylvania’s Reading Symphony Orchestra will open its 2014-15 subscription season in October with Music Director Andrew Constantine leading Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4; Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite No. 1; and Brahms’s Double Concerto featuring violinist Timothy Lees and cellist Ilya Finkelshteyn. Repertoire to be featured on the orchestra’s other five classical programs from November through May will include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, Mozart’s Symphony Nos. 31 and 40, Franck’s Symphony in D minor, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. Also planned are Bottesini’s Grand Duo Concertante, with RSO violnist Christopher Collins Lee and RSO bassist Douglas Mapp; Philip Glass’s Secret Agent; and Jonathan Leshnoff’s Starburst. The orchestra will continue to perform at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading, and will continue its recently initiated earlier starting time of 7:30 p.m. Also planned for 2014-15 are pops concerts in July, December, and February.
