The Buffalo Philharmonic and the South Carolina Philharmonic are among the orchestras that will celebrate military personnel in presentations this spring. At the BPO’s “Star Spangled Pops” Memorial Day Weekend concerts with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus on May 23 and 24 at Kleinhans Music Hall, current and former military personnel will be admitted free, by presenting their military ID at the BPO box office.  The program will include music by Trace Adkins, Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw, and Bruce Springsteen, as well as “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and “Armed Forces Salute,” arranged by Jonathan Tessero, who is also conducting the concert. On June 11 at the Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, the South Carolina Philharmonic will perform a program honoring U.S. Army Green Berets, led by Music Director Morihiko Nakahara. The performance will take place with attendees of the Special Forces Association national convention in the audience. The program includes music by Francis Scott Key, John Philip Sousa, and John Williams.
