The Astoria Symphony in Queens, N.Y., has appointed DAVID STECH music director, effective in the 2014-15 season. Stech is also staff conductor at New York Lyric Opera; assistant conductor of Virginia’s Ash Lawn Opera; a vocal coach and staff pianist at the Manhattan School of Music and International Vocal Arts Institute; and music director/organist at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Passaic, N.J. He holds degrees from California State University, Chico; Northwestern University; and Manhattan School of Music.
