MICHAEL HALL has been appointed music director of the Kennett Symphony of Chester County (Pa.), effective with the start of the 2014-15 season in September. Hall goes to Kennett from the Southwest Florida Symphony, where he recently concluded a five-year tenure as music director. Before that he served as associate conductor of the Pacific Symphony in Orange County, Calif. Hall has guest conducted the Tucson Symphony on several occasions, and has also led the Houston, Toronto, and Vancouver symphonies and the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Costa Rica. Third-prize winner in the 2004 Cadaques Orchestra International Conducting Competition, and a finalist in the 2003 International Conducting Competition in Besançon, France, Hall holds a master’s degree in conducting from the University of Michigan, where he studied with Gustav Meier.
