LEONARD SLATKIN has signed a three-year extension of his contract as music director of France’s Orchestre National de Lyon, extending his commitment through the 2016-17 season. He remains music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, where his current contract runs through 2015-16. Slatkin’s new Orchestre National de Lyon contract takes effect in September 2014, coinciding with a collaborative celebration of his 70th birthday on both sides of the Atlantic.
