The Colorado Springs Philharmonic has announced agreement on a new five-year contract between management and the Pikes Peak Musicians’ Association, represented by American Federation of Musicians Local #154. Signed June 10, 2014, the agreement will be in effect from August 2014 through July 2019. It provides for year-to-year raises for every musician, with a cumulative 13.7% increase in fees over the length of the contract, and a 6.2% improvement in pension benefits. “The agreement represents a commitment to the musicians in recognition of their artistic work and provides increased stability for the future,” said Local #154 President Diane Merrill in a statement. Philharmonic President and CEO Nathan Newbrough said, “This agreement is a great step forward, allowing us to envision an even brighter future for exceptional music in the Pikes Peak region. I thank the musicians for their brilliant performances and thoughtful deliberation concerning the legacy of this valued cultural asset.”
