The Phoenix Symphony will mark the 50th anniversary of Phoenix International Raceway this November with a “Sound of Speed” concert led by guest conductor Larry Blank, with music centered around cars and racing. The event is being held in conjunction with Phoenix International Raceway and Barrett-Jackson, an auction company of collector cars. Among the performers at the November 6 event at Phoenix Symphony Hall will be NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace and actor Tom Wopat (Dukes of Hazzard). The concert will include a commissioned world premiere, and the event features a silent auction, a pre-concert party with NASCAR personalities, and a “Pit Road” street fair showcasing classic race cars.
