JOSÉ GARCÍA-LÉON has been named associate dean for academic affairs at The Juilliard School, effective July 1, 2014. He goes to Juilliard from the University of New Haven, where he has served as an associate professor of music and is currently associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. García-Léon is an award-winning pianist who has performed extensively in recital, and he has presented scholarly research at music conferences in the U.S. and internationally. He holds doctoral and master’s degrees in piano performance, with a concentration in music theory, from the Manhattan School of Music. A native of Seville, Spain, García-Léon graduated from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla before receiving a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University of the State University of New York.
