The New Haven (Conn.) Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of CHELSEA TIPTON to a three-year term as principal pops conductor, effective in October 2014. Tipton, who is also music director of the Symphony of Southeast Texas (Beaumont), has guest conducted extensively, including engagements with the Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Nashville, New Jersey, Pittsburgh and San Antonio symphonies; the Brooklyn, Louisiana, and Rochester Philharmonics; the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (Palermo); and the Sphinx Competition Showcase at Carnegie Hall.
