At a meeting of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Board of Directors on June 18, BARBARA BOZZUTO was elected board chair effective immediately; she succeeds KENNETH W. DEFONTES JR., who has completed his three-year term as chair. Bozzuto is the first woman to lead the BSO board in the orchestra’s 98-year history. She has served on the board for the past three years, and was chair of the BSO Gala with her husband, Thomas, in 2011. Bozzuto is also a board member of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and serves on the National Advisory Committee of the Peabody Conservatory. Her professional honors include Baltimore magazine’s “Top Businesswomen of the Year” and Maryland’s “Top 100 Women” lists. In 2013 she was named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year by the Maryland Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
