The Winston-Salem (N.C.) Symphony has announced the appointment of STEPHEN MULLIGAN as assistant conductor, effective in August 2014. He is co-founder and music director of the Occasional Symphony in Baltimore, where he has also served as chamber/assistant conductor of the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra and as cover conductor for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Mulligan has appeared with the São Paulo State Symphony, the Peabody and Yale symphony orchestras, and the Aspen Chamber Symphony. He received a master’s degree at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Marin Alsop, Gustav Meier, and Markand Thakar. Mulligan is currently in his second fellowship year at Aspen Music Festival and School’s American Academy of Conducting.
