The Princeton Symphony Orchestra has announced that its 2014-15 main season—five Classical Series performances from September to May at Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium—will include music by American composers William Bolcom and Sebastian Currier. Music Director Rossen Milanov will lead Bolcom’s Commedia for “Almost” 18th-Century Orchestra on a program that also includes Stravinsky’s Petrushka (1947 version) and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, with soloist Natasha Paremski. Currier’s Microsymph, a ten-minute a parody of symphonic form, will be juxtaposed on a program with Sibelius’s Symphony No. 1 and cellist Zuill Bailey as soloist in Schumann’s Cello Concerto and the “Meditation” from Thais, in an arrangement for cello. Currier will talk about Microsymph at two events, including one the night of the concert. Also planned are a concert of Verdi opera excerpts, symphonies by Beethoven and Bruckner, and solo appearances by violinist Bella Hristova and guitarist Robert Belinic. The PSO also will perform a Holiday Pops concert in December.
